Lesson Discussion Notes: Deeper Thinking
It was great to talk to several our classmates and moderators on our lesson discussions. Here are a few conversations that we had to share with you to help you understand the value and the importance of our lesson discussions.
Q: We seem to engage in Learner-Learner interaction. Correct?
A: That is an excellent observation. If you had ETC645, you may notice we engage more Learner-Learner interaction. It is the way that I like us to do: more Learner-Learner interaction with certain degree of Learner-Instructor interaction. I use advice, and follow-up postings to guide and challenge your thinking on each thread. Why Learner-Learner interaction is the most valuable part in ETC655's OER, open pedagogy? I hope you know the answer.
Q: You ask very different and more challenging questions as follow-up in 2nd posting period in comparing to ETC645. Why?
A: Because I want us to be able to reach effective thinking; therefore, my follow-up questions use Inquiry Learning Model to guide you to conduct deeper critical thinking.
Q: Do I need to answer all follow-up questions you posted?
A: You don't but I do encourage you to challenge yourself. Frequently, there is no fixed answer for our discussion questions or follow-up questions. Give it a try! Don't be afraid. Take this opportunity to learn more and learn deeper. If we don't try it while we are the students, when should we? You may not have the satisfied answers for yourselves but by interacting with the classmates, and the class community, you will see you learn more and deeper by going through such process. One of previous student said: if I dodge the challenging questions, I should just read the required reading or buy the textbooks. Don't need to enroll in ETC program. Agree?!
