Lesson 4: Instructor’s Notes #1: Next Week: Assignment 3 Network Training Sessions
ETC655 Assignment Network Training schedules and topics have been finalized and to be presented next week. See the dates and times for each group's training topic. Here are a few reminders:
Where: ETC655 Collaborate Ultra-Course Room. NOT the group Ultra that is for rehearse.
- All ETC655 students as presenters are given with "Moderator" privilege
- All sessions are delivered "Live" and will be recorded.
Who may attend: ETC students, alumni, educators, and faculties. Some may access the recordings.
Sign up the sessions: that you plan to attend to inform the presenters. The presenters may have training materials or information for the participants.
Attend ONE live session at least delivered by another group.
- Participating in more than one session is highly encouraged. The past record: 3-4 sessions.
Two tutorials created NAU ELearning Center to prepare your live PD on Ultra:
Recording: Start recording before the session starts.
Start your session on time. Prepare to solve any technical problems that you may encounter. I will not interrupt your session unless necessary.
It is an INTERACTIVE training session not just a presentation or lecturing. Apply effective ONLE instructional strategies "TO ENGAGE" the audiences to create something rather than just presenting the content (selected web 2.0 tool). Just presenting/lecturing doesn't meet the requirements.
Audiences: you may have off-line audiences who watch the recorded session.
Sign Off: To finalize the recorded session, all participants, including the presenters, MUST sign off before a new session starts. Remind the audiences to sign off after the session.
Rehearse: Highly recommended. Use your group's Ultra room to rehearse. The actual session will be delivered in "ETC655 Collaborate Ultra (For A3 Training Sessions)"
Watching video clips: It is relevant to integrate video clips for your sessions. Generally, it is better to have the audiences watch the clips on their own then come back to the Ultra. Provide the link in the chat room since the link in the slides is not clickable. Watching videos on BBLearn Collaborate could experience bandwidth issues. More importantly, think about if it is necessary to watch video clips or the audiences could watch them after the session. So, it gives your session more time to engage in highly effective instructions.
Quiet Environment: When presenting, be sure you have a quiet surrounding without any interference, such as background noise, phone ringing, dog barking, and people talking etc.
Facilitation: One group member can facilitate the chat room. Audiences may use the chat room to participate in the conversation. I will help the one-person group to monitor the chat room, if you need me.
Survey: Provide the link in the chat room.
Q: Can I invite my colleagues to participate in the sessions?
A: Yes. The session is open to anyone who has interests.
Instructor: I will participate in all live training sessions with others.
