Question: How does ETC655 differ from other courses, such as ETC645 or previous instances of ETC655?

Answer: ETC655 Spring 2023 is highly unique when compared to other courses, including previous iterations of ETC655. Below are some highlights that will assist you in becoming acquainted with the new course structure.

·         Numerous lesson discussions, activities, and assignments have been collaboratively designed and refined by past students of ETC655, with approval from the ETC Curriculum Committee.

·         Lesson discussions:

o   All students must provide a response to KEY #1 question, while active engagement in discussions and conducting KEY #2 readings is strongly recommended.

o   Simply answering KEY #1 question may fulfill the basic requirements and provide sufficient learning. However, if you wish to further enhance your learning experience during the ETC program, addressing KEY #2 would deepen your understanding of content, pedagogy, and technical knowledge. In fact, acquiring knowledge from KEY #2 would improve your ability and capability to plan, design, and develop other assignments.

o   The majority of discussion questions are centered around design-based concepts rather than abstract ideas. The approach is akin to designing a miniature project and presenting it to your peers.

·         Assignments

o   Numerous assignments have been created utilizing the pedagogy of learning experience design (LXD), thereby rendering them valuable additions to your resume or curriculum vitae. This is particularly significant if you have aspirations of advancing your career.

·         Here are some comments from former students of ETC655:

o   This course is designed to broaden your horizons in the realm of educational technology, encompassing content, pedagogy, and technology.

o   It is essential to adopt an open-minded perspective, as recommended by open pedagogy principles.

·         ETC655 Virtual Office Hours

o   Friday, March 10, 2023, 4-4:30 AZ Time.

o   Zoom: https://nau.zoom.us/j/83787174930?pwd=Qksza1U4UjU4OHE2dHVoTDZMWGxTdz09

o   Meeting ID: 837 8717 4930

o   Password: Pedagogy

·         Where are the extra credit activities?

o   Designed by ETC655 Spring 2022 students.

    • There are three extra credit activities that are currently hidden.
    • Each activity has the potential to earn up to 2 points.
    • Unlocking all three activities will result in an additional 2 points, for a total of 8 points.
    • Focus on learning as much as possible by actively participating in class activities.

As always, feel free to reach out to me via email if you need any assistance. My NAU email, Chih.Tu@nau.edu, is the best way to contact me since I check it more frequently than BBLearn email.

Please note that we have a significant amount of readings for our upcoming discussions in Lesson 2 and 3. Therefore, it is advisable to start early and get a head start.

Our course materials have been migrated from the previous semester, and there might be some discrepancies with the instruction and content. If you come across anything that seems incorrect, please inform me.

Even if you are doing well in the class, I would love to hear from you. Don't hesitate to reach out and let me know how you're doing.

Regards,

Chih
